This is a listing of movies that I can personally recommend, for those who need a place to start.
DragonheartA brave but disillusioned knight, Sir Bowen (Quaid), joins forces with Draco, the last surviving dragon (voiced by Connery), to defeat the tyrant King Einon (Thewlis), with whom both Dragon and knight are linked by fate. Also tagging along for Bowen's quest is the monk Brother Gilbert of Glockenspur (Postlethwaite), and a young village girl Kara (Dina Meyer), whose father fell victim to Einon's tyranny.
This is most definitely the greatest dragon story ever put on a movie screen. Despite the fact that Draco is the first fully computer-generated main character in any major film, he is animated beautifully. The story itself leaves little to be desired. Any serious fan of dragon lore should have this movie in their collection!

Reign of FireDuring an underground construction in London, a hibernating dragon is discovered and springs to life, instantly frying all construction workers with its fiery breath. The only survivor is the 10-year-old Quinn Abercromby, whose mother was chief of the construction crew.
If you're looking for the mean nasty killer sorts of dragons, this is where you can find them! Think of this as Waterworld, with dragons instead of water, and not quite so long. It's an interesting twist on the classic dragonslayer epic.
