Main Layout, Design, and Features Complete!

As announcements have begun to go out about the completion of The Dragon Bookstore, the response has been incredible! Already, there is a huge list of new items to add that have been suggested by the influx of new visitors! Eight of those items were added this morning: seven books and one movie. These included the roleplaying game Fireborn and the movie Dragonstorm. Work will continue on this venture, and you can expect more very soon! Thank you everyone for your submissions! And please, keep them coming. Suggestions for new items are always appreciated.

Finally, after three months of work, The Dragon Bookstore has arrived at some degree of completeness! Nothing has been posted in the past couple of weeks, but many changes have been made. Most of these changes include minor features and bug fixes, such as the addition of images to the seller listings and the shopping cart, and the implementation of a few more graphics. Also, two books have been recently added. These books are The Atlas of Pern and The People of Pern, both companion books to the Dragonriders of Pern series. But don't fret; just because this website has reached a complete look and layout doesn't mean that the features will stop coming. Many things are planned for the future of The Dragon Bookstore, such as listings for items that don't feature dragons (gasp), and also more listings for dragon books and games. So sit back, take a look around, and enjoy!

New Items Added!

I know it has been a while, but some new items have finally been added to the listings! Specifically, 4 new dragon movies were added, including the excellent but little-known titles Dragonworld and Q: The Winged Serpent. Along with those additions, alternate formats of currently offered products continue to be added. In the works are many new features, such as alternate format image displays and a system through which The Dragon Bookstore will offer various non-dragon-related items. Enjoy!

New Header Bar!

See that new header bar at the top of the page? It's brand-new! It will link you your shopping cart, a site-wide search, and the Dragon Bookstore home page. It also replaces the search box that used to be on the left side of the page. Other recent changes include the addition of more available formats to all of the game pages and most of the movie pages. Adding more available formats to the item pages is the current priority, so expect to see more and more of those being filled out every day!

Sweeping Changes and More New Features!

The Dragon Bookstore has just undergone some vast and exciting upgrades! The first thing you'll likely notice is the 'buy now' button under each item listing; click that button, and prices are displayed for up to two formats of the item (such as paperback and hardcover). The second thing you'll notice is that most of the displayed prices are now much lower! That's because Amazon's third party Marketplace seller system has been integrated into The Dragon Bookstore's price listing, and the lowest available price is displayed. When you click on a price, available sellers of the item will be displayed (including Amazon itself) for you to choose from! Also images in the listings have been enlarged, and you can click on them for a full-sized version! But there's more! The item pages have been altered to display pricing for all available formats of the particular item! Those listings are sparse right now, but the next changes to The Dragon Bookstore will involve filling those out and adding more formats of each item. Another change is that The Dragon Bookstore's shopping cart system has been put in place! Note that you need to have cookies enabled to use it. Only checkout happens through Amazon.com now. And just a little warning: with any change this vast, there are bound to be a few bugs. So be sure to verify the items in your shopping cart before checking out. Enjoy!

New Features!

You may notice a couple of changes around here. The most obvious is the search box to the left. Yes I finally did it; I removed the Google search bars and implemented a custom search engine! Waiting for Google to get around to indexing the bookstore was not a good solution. Also, all of the item pages have bigger images! And you can click on those images to get full-sized versions! This is the first step in a process that will eventually finish with the implementation of a custom shopping cart system. Enjoy!

13 new books were just added to The Dragon Bookstore, every one of them requests by members of the draconomicon.com forums! Thanks guys! This bumps the count to 351 items. Among the new items are the entire Bazil Broketail series and the Tales of Kolmar trilogy. I apologize that the Dragon Bookstore search is not yet working; Google has not yet indexed this site. New Category System!

A brand spankin' new category system was just implemented in The Dragon Bookstore! Hopefully, this will allow visitors to more quickly find the sorts of items they're looking for. It's still being tweaked a little, and some visual improvements will come within the next week, but it is mostly complete. Also, I have fixed the forms and added two new ones! Visitors can suggest new items with the item suggestion form, and can suggest related links with the link submission form! Oh yeah, that's another new improvement; A new drive has begun to post external links on the item pages related to the items in question, such as author, publisher, and fan sites. Enjoy! A Third of a Thousand!

The Dragon Bookstore just hit 338 items (12 of which were just added), pushing the grand total above a third of a thousand! I have finished adding books from the huge list I was working from! From now on, new additions will come from new releases, visitor requests, and the dragonlance series, only half of which I have added thus far. Among the books added today were the Dragon series by Laurence Yep and The Pit Dragon Chronicles by Jane Yolen. From here on out, the focus will be on adding new features to this website, as well as making sure different formats of the items are available (hardcover, softcover, audio, etc). I'm sorry that it has been a few days since I last posted. I've been pretty busy! But there is some great stuff coming to The Dragon Bookstore! Within a week, I hope to have a directory system implemented to help visitors more quickly find the books they're looking for. Within two weeks, I hope to have new forms that visitors can use to suggest new items! 13 books were just added to the listings, including the oldest listed book to date, The Dragon of Wantley, first published in 1892! The Dragon Bookstore now lists 300 items! This number includes 255 books, 21 movies, and 24 games! 12 of these movies were just added; I decided that the movie listing was severely lacking, so I went hunting. The added movies include compilations of episodes of the popular Dragon Tales children's television show, and the classic movie Dragonslayer. That may not sound like much, but with 275 items now filling this website's listings, the past month has been a long one! 14 of these items were just added, all of them books. 13 new books have just been added, pushing the total number of items past 200! There are now 205 items listed in The Dragon Bookstore. These consist of 172 books, 9 movies, and 24 games. 16 new items were just added; 11 of those are books and 5 are games. The games (Drakengard and Panzer Dragoon) are the first requested items to be posted in The Dragon Bookstore! Three weeks after the launch of The Dragon Bookstore, its listing has reached 150 items! That means an average of 50 items are added each week, and I don't see that slowing down anytime soon. thirteen items were just added, all books.10 new books were just added to the listings, including four children's books. It's amazing how many children's books there are out there that have dragons! I apologize that the Dragon Bookstore search is not yet working; Google has not yet indexed this site. I just added another twelve books, including the entire Dragonsword trilogy. I'm up to C on my huge list of books to add! Also, I'm adding links to the book listings you can use get more information. Today, I posted a form that visitors can use to submit their own reviews to this website! I also finished adding all of the items that I know by memory, and have started adding items from a long list of dragon books I have, some of them rare and relatively unknown. As a result, I added 12 new items today, all of them books and most of them having authors whose last names start with A.

100 finally!

Yep, I added 10 items today, which put me over 100! I added the rest of the Breath of Fire game series, along with the Dragonlance Legends trilogy. And what was the 100th item? The console version of the Reign of Fire game. And for those of you who are counting, the 50th was Spyro the Dragon! Is there a trend here? Anyway, the current total of 105 consists of 79 books, 7 movies, and 19 games (including sets and collections, but not including alternate formats).

Good God Dragonlance is huge!

Well, I was hoping to hit 100 items today, but I decided to add the series page for Dragonlance and some of its books. I didn't realize, of course, that the Dragonlance series has over a hundred books (I've only read the first three). Well, after I finally got the book lists up (which still have flaws, but I'll deal with it), I only had time to add 7 items today. But maybe tomorrow!

Today, I got a huge amount done! I added 15 new items, including Discovery's Dragon's World movie and the Dragon Prince and Dragon Star trilogies! I also added VHS options where available for all of the movies. Enjoy!

I may have only added four new items today (all movies), but I got a lot of other work done. I have decided to switch all of my item descriptions to use descriptions from their Wikipedia articles, liscenced under the GNU documentation lisence. This is much less legally dubious than what I was using (I am convinced that what I was doing was legal, but now there is no question). That change will be happening over the next few days. Also, I am preparing to add forms that visitors can use to submit requests for new items, or their own reviews of items already present.

Well, the long and short of it is that I got 15 items added today! I finished off the Spyro series of games, and added the entire Dragon and the George series of books by Gordon Dickson. I also added a featured items section to the front page. Enjoy!

Today, I added 10 new items! The first five finish off the Pern series (yay)! Now I only have to add all the book sets and compilations, and all the companion books, and all the books that contain short stories, etc., but these will come more gradually. I also decided to fill out the games section a little, so I added Breath of Fire III along with the first three games of the Spyro series (which I intend to finish tomorrow). However, with those additions, The main Recommendations page is now complete! Oh, and it's official; I passed the 50 item mark! The Dragon Bookstore now offers 54 items.

After yesterday's minor disaster, I drank a lot of caffiene this morning and bounced right back! I added 14 new books today: the Irene Radford books I lost yesterday, The Hobbit (why I hadn't added this before I will never know), and four of the remaining Pern books! I will likely finish adding the main books of the series tomorrow.

Well, this morning, I had done a lot of reorganizing of the website files and added all ten of Irene Radford's wonderful dragon books when I lost all my work. I managed to fix most of the reorganizing of the website, but unfortunately, I was only able to add the first of the ten books. The rest will probably go back up tomorrow.

The slogging continues! Today, I created the series pages for the Dragonriders of Pern and Inheritance. I also added ten new items: six Pern books, one Pern set, one Inheritance set, the movie Dragonheart, and the game Horizons, which you can download for free! I'm getting faster and faster at this; I'm down to about 10-15 minutes per item. I'll probably take tomorrow off. Enjoy!

Well, here I go! I'm beginning to slog away at adding the massive amounts of dragon items that are available, but it's going to take a while! I'm getting faster now, but the first few items took about a half hour each. It takes me a bit longer when I need to add items to the recommended sections, though, and writing reviews holds me up too. Things should go much faster when I get into more unfamiliar territory, but I added eight items today! Most of those are Anne McCaffrey/Todd McCaffrey books, including Dragon's Fire, which (for those of you who are counting) won't be released for a few months!

It's official.. The initial layout and formatting of this website is now complete! I have also added (gasp) advertisements, but they're unobtrusive and only found at the bottom of every page, so they shouldn't cause any inconvenience. Tomorrow, I start adding loads of books! Maybe even a game.

Unfortunately, I haven't found time to add any new items yet, but the initial design of the website is almost done! The books section is (hopefully) completely done, including the horrid, horrid A-Z pages. I intend to finish the movies and games sections tomorrow, and *then* maybe I'll have a chance to start adding items by the dozens!

Well, it took a couple of days, but the first book has been posted! I intend to spend the following week adding my favorite books and perfecting the layout of the website. And the first book? Dragonflight by Anne McCaffrey, of course!

Yes, yes, I launched the website on Friday the 13th. There's not much here yet, but I intend to get the first products up and tinker with the initial layout today. So soon, there will be much more here to see! Stay tuned!
